Liebe Studierende,
ein herzliches Willkommen im Wintersemester 2025/26!
Zum Semesterstart sind hier einige wichtige Ankündigungen für Sie gesammelt:
[Wichtige Information zur Höchststudiendauer / ehemaliges Karenzsemester]
Das bisherige „Karenzsemester“ (9. Semester im Bachelor bzw. 7. Semester im Master) entfällt.
Künftig gilt: Sie müssen Ihr Studium bis zum Ablauf der Höchststudiendauer abschließen (Bachelor: 8 Semester, Master: 6 Semester).
Sobald Sie die Regelstudienzeit (Bachelor: 6 Semester, Master: 4 Semester) überschreiten, informiert Sie das Prüfungsamt per E-Mail. In dieser E-Mail werden Sie darauf hingewiesen, dass Sie Ihr Studium innerhalb der folgenden zwei Semester – also bis zum Erreichen der Höchststudiendauer – abschließen müssen.
Diese neue Regelung tritt erst nach dem Sommersemester 2026 in Kraft.
Für das Wintersemester 2025/26 und das Sommersemester 2026 greifen noch die bisherigen Bestimmungen mit dem Karenzsemester.
→ Wenn Sie die Höchststudiendauer zum Ende letzten Semesters erreicht haben oder zum Ende dieses Wintersemesters erreichen, erhalten Sie das Karenzsemester noch.
Ab dem Wintersemester 2026/27 gibt es dann kein automatisches Karenzsemester mehr.
→ Wenn Sie die Höchststudiendauer Ende des Sommersemesters 2026 oder später erreichen, erhalten Sie kein Karenzsemester mehr. Das Studium kann dann nur noch durch eine offizielle Genehmigung des Prüfungsausschusses verlängert werden.
[Fakultätsnachwuchs]
In diesem Semester können wir wieder einige neue Professoren an der Fakultät begrüßen:
Den Fachbereich Informatik unterstützen ab diesem Semester Prof. Dr. Florian Klingler (Lehrstuhl Rechnernetze) und Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tobias Distler (Lehrstuhl Verteilte Systeme).
Prof. Klingler bietet in diesem Semester die Lehrveranstaltungen COMNET-NES-M Networked Embedded Systems und COMNET-RN-B Rechnernetze an, die das bisherige Modul KTR-Datkomm-B ersetzen. Beide Module sind bereits in den Modulhandbüchern verzeichnet.
Prof. Distler bietet ein Seminar und ein Projekt (für Bachelor und Master) an.
Zudem ist Prof. Dr. Jakob Abeßer neu an der Fakultät im Bereich Angewandte Informatik mit dem Lehrstuhl Computational Humanities. Er bietet das Mastermodul CH-CASM-M Computational Analysis of Sounds and Music an, das ebenfalls bereits in den Modulhandbüchern verzeichnet ist.
[Masterstudiengang ISoSySc]
Prof. Galster bietet in diesem Semester neu das Modul ESE-ESEng-M Evidence-Based Software Engineering an. Es kann von Studierenden mit Studienbeginn vor dem Wintersemester 2025/26 in Modulgruppe A1 (S2 und S3) belegt werden.
Studierende der neuen Ordnung (Beginn ab diesem Wintersemester) finden das Modul bereits im Modulhandbuch.
Zudem wird das Modul AISE-UL - abweichend von den Angsben in den Modulhandbüchern - dieses Semester nicht angeboten.
[Vakanz Lehrstuhl Soziale Netzwerke]
Der Lehrstuhl für Wirtschaftsinformatik, insbesondere Soziale Netzwerke, ist bis auf Weiteres nicht besetzt.
Im Wintersemester 2025/26 werden noch folgende Lehrveranstaltungen angeboten:
SNA-OSN-M: Project Online Social Networks und SNA-EAM-B: Enterprise Architecture Management.

Beachten Sie bitte, dass Sie sich für Ihre Studienplanung immer nach dem aktuellsten Modulhandbuch richten müssen (gemäß Ihrer Studienordnung).

Dear students,
A warm welcome to the winter semester 2025/26!
At the start of the semester, we would like to share some important announcements with you:
[Important Information on the Maximum Duration of Studies / Former “Grace Semester”]
The previous “grace semester” (9th semester in the Bachelor’s programme or 7th semester in the Master’s programme) has been abolished.
In the future, you must complete your degree by the end of the maximum duration of studies
(Bachelor’s: 8 semesters, Master’s: 6 semesters).
Once you have exceeded the standard period of study (Bachelor’s: 6 semesters, Master’s: 4 semesters), the Examination Office will inform you by email. You will be reminded that you must complete your studies within the following two semesters – i.e. by reaching the maximum duration.
This new regulation will take effect after the summer semester 2026.
For the winter semester 2025/26 and the summer semester 2026, the previous rules including the grace semester will still apply.
→ If you reached the maximumduation of studies last semester or reach the maximum duration of studies at the end of this winter semester, you will still be granted the grace semester.
From the winter semester 2026/27 onward, there will no longer be an automatic grace semester.
→ If you reach the maximum duration at the end of summer semester 2026 or later, you will not automatically receive a grace semester. Any extension of your studies will then require official approval by the Examination Board.
[New Faculty Members]
This semester, we are pleased to welcome several new professors to the faculty:
Prof. Dr. Florian Klingler (Chair of Computer Networks) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tobias Distler (Chair of Distributed Systems) have joined the Department of Computer Science.
Prof. Klingler is offering the courses COMNET-NES-M Networked Embedded Systems and COMNET-RN-B Computer Networks, which replace the former module KTR-Datkomm-B. Both modules are already listed in the module catalogues.
Prof. Distler is offering a seminar and a project (for both Bachelor’s and Master’s students).
In addition, Prof. Dr. Jakob Abeßer has joined the faculty in the field of Applied Computer Science as Professor of Computational Humanities. He offers the Master’s module CH-CASM-M Computational Analysis of Sounds and Music, which is also already listed in the module catalogues.
[Master’s Programme ISoSySc]

The Chair of Information Systems, especially Social Networks, is currently vacant.
In the winter semester 2025/26, the following courses will still be offered:
