The Artificial Intelligence Group at the University of Hagen (FernUniversität in
Hagen), Germany, offers two full-time positions (TV-L 13) for PhD candidates
and/or PostDocs in the area of knowledge representation and reasoning.
Possible topics include

- formal argumentation
- non-monotonic reasoning
- inconsistency measurement
- belief dynamics
- probabilistic reasoning

The positions should be filled by October 2021, but a later start point is
possible as well. The initial employment will be for 36 months. An extended
employment is possible, but cannot be guaranteed at this point.

The successful candidates will conduct research in the newly founded
Artificial Intelligence Group, teach courses for Bachelor and Master students,
and help in the general administrative duties of the group.

The successful candidate should have a Master's degree in Computer Science or
some related field. PostDocs should have a PhD degree in the general area
of knowledge representation and reasoning. In addition, candidates are expected
to have strong analytical skills, programming skills and experience in the field of logic
and knowledge representation. Experience in research on one of the topics
mentioned above, for example through a Bachelor/Master/PhD thesis in the field,
is desirable but not mandatory.
