Introductory reading folder
This is a selection of both general reading lists (in British Cultural & Literary Studies) and excerpts from key introductory texts in the field of postcolonial literature and culture. Alongside the scanned excerpts in this folder, you will find an extremely comprehensive introductory reading list on questions of identity, multiculturalism, Empire, and the history and culture of the UK itself, in the 'Identity' section of our Department's Handbook. Particularly important texts as asterisked.
A number of the seminal 'cultural studies' texts on questions of racism and multiculturalism can be found in e-book format on the library catalogue, notably Paul Gilroy's There ain't no Black in the Union Jack (1987), among others. The Cambridge Introduction can be found in the library catalogue in e-book form.
