This basic course introduces to the study of History. The basic course (Ger. Grundkurs) must be taken as part of the introductory module "Theories and Methods" (Ger. Theorien und Methoden). The course introduces students to important working techniques, theories and methods of the study of history. The course is compulsory for students of the Bachelor's degree programme History (Ger. Geschichte), who study according to the study regulations (Ger. Studienordnung) valid since WS 2012/2013. It is preferable to take the course in the first semester. For students of the teaching regulations, the course is also compulsory; attendance is recommended here in the first two semesters. Note for students of Social Studies (Basic Module I Contemporary History): Only the basic courses offered by the Chair of Modern History and the Chair of Franconian Regional History can be credited. All other basic courses (including this one) can NOT be used for the module structure of the subject Social Studies! Attending one of the proseminars (Basic Module I) parallel to the basic course is not compulsory, but recommended. Successful completion of the basic course requires the completion of several smaller assignments.
