F2) LEMPART, WEBER; Multiple choice, Yes/No or open questions? Online questionnaires with LimeSurvey.
Online questionnaire with LimeSurvey: Design a short questionnaire on a linguistic phenomenon of your choice.
Programs: LimeSurvey (hosted on corpora-engling.split.uni-bamberg.de)
Tasks:
- Create a short questionnaire on a linguistic phenomenon/topic of your choice using LimeSurvey.
- In your questionnaire, use a wide variety of question types (yes/no, open questions, etc.)
- Do not forget to include a part on personal information in your questionnaire (age, nationality, education, education of parents, years lived abroad, etc.) as well as a short introductory text (who are you, what happens with the data, what is the research interest)
- Present the key points of your questionnaire design to your fellow students. Also, highlight the different question types (pros and cons) LimeSurvey offers.
Notes:
- Please sign up for a free user account on our departmental server and send Fabian Vetter (fabian.vetter@uni-bamberg.de) an email with your username and email address you signed up with. He will then grant you access to LimeSurvey.
- A short introduction (who you are and why you perform the study) is also part of the questionnaire!
- More details on questionnaire design can be found in Wray, Alison & Aileen Bloomer. 2012. Projects in Linguistics and Language Studies. 3rd edition. London: Hodder Education.
