ist für die meisten im Kurs noch eher bis sehr weit weg eine W3, aber spannendes Thema...

The Department of Human Sciences at the Technical University of
Darmstadt invites applications for the position of a Professorship (W3)
for "Computational Cognitive Science" starting as soon as possible.

The position holder will be a member of the Hessian Center for
Artificial Intelligence - hessian.AI (https://hessian.ai/) and provides
research at the Center and will also be a member of the Centre for
Cognitive Science (https://www.cogsci.tu-darmstadt.de/).

We are looking for an outstanding scientist who will represent the
topic area of Computational Cognitive Science in research and teaching.
The scientific focus of the position is on the computational and
algorithmic modeling of behavioral data to understand the human mind.
Exemplary research topics include, but are not limited to:

- computational level models of perception, cognition, decision making,
action, and learning as well as extended behavior and social
interactions in humans,
- algorithmic models that are able to simulate, predict, and explain
human behavior,
- model-driven behavioral research on human cognition.

Successful candidates should demonstrate an outstanding scientific
profile, with high-impact research contributions in the area of
computational modeling of human behavior. A research profile that is
able to interact with current developments in machine learning and
artificial intelligence is desired. Candidates are expected to teach
these topics in our undergraduate as well as graduate-level programs in
Cognitive Science. Furthermore, a proven track record of successful
collaboration in international research teams, with industry, or across
research disciplines is a plus.

The professorship is expected to strengthen the Hessian Center for
Artificial Intelligence and TU Darmstadt’s Human Science department’s
research focus on Cognitive Science, which belongs to one of the three
distinguished research fields of Technical University of Darmstadt
(Information + Intelligence). The current faculty at both the Hessian
Center for Artificial Intelligence and the Centre for Cognitive Science
maintain numerous vibrant collaborations and are jointly involved in
several cluster projects, including “The third Wave of AI” and “The
Adaptive Mind”.

Depending on the candidate’s profile there is the opportunity to
participate in joint research projects currently running at TU
Darmstadt. This in particular includes the state funded cluster
projects "The Adaptive Mind (TAM)" (https://www.theadaptivemind.de/)
and "The Third Wave of Artificial Intelligence (3AI)"

In addition to excellent scientific credentials, we seek a strong
commitment to teaching in the department’s Bachelor and Masters
programs in Cognitive Science. Experience in attracting third-party
funding as well as participation in academic governance is expected.

Technical University of Darmstadt is an autonomous university with
broad excellence in research, an interdisciplinary profile, and clear
focus areas in engineering sciences and information and communication
technology. The professorship is a full professorship on a permanent
basis. A prerequisite for applying is that additional academic
achievements must be present; in general, the doctorate should be more
than three years old at the time of application.

The position will be remunerated in line with the German "W-Besoldung"
and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university
management in accordance with his/her experience and qualifications.
The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 67 and 68 HessHG
(Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).

Technical University of Darmstadt intends to increase the number of
female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of
equal qualifications, applicants with a degree of disability of at
least 50 or equal will be given preference. Technical University of
Darmstadt is certified as a family-friendly university and offers a
dual career program.

Please submit applications with the usual attachments (CV including
research and teaching achievements, list of publications, scans/copies
of diplomas) as well as a research and teaching statement, quoting the
code number, to the Chair of the Department of Human Sciences, Prof.
Dr. Josef Wiemeyer (dekanat@humanw.tu-darmstadt.de).
