The Software Technologies Research Group (SWT) is building a digital model railway (SWTbahn) for use in teaching. This will give students a realistic case study of a safety-critical system, thereby supporting the learning of important principles for their design, programming and verification.
In this context, we are offering several individual and/or team student projects of all kinds (Bachelor & Master, 6/9/12 ECTS):
- Extending a prototypic, Django-based web-framework for administrating SWTbahn;
- Developing software for track control ("Stellwerk") using model-driven engineering;
- Devising different web-based clients such as for train drivers.
The ideal project students will have an interest in the development of embedded software. Knowledge of C, JavaScript and/or Python is desirable; missing knowledge can be acquired during the project.
