Cross-Device Boundary Management

Today’s information and communication technology is getting increasingly powerful and connected – with modern laptops, tablets, and smartphones we can be online anytime and anyplace. This entails great flexibility, but also has downsides. In this thesis we want to analyse how users use their devices and when and where they are available to other users and when and where not. Based on this analysis we want to draw conclusions concerning requirements for future software applications and apps for the effective and efficient communication and cooperation among users.

Die heutige Informationstechnologie wird immer leistungsfähiger und vernetzter – mit modernen Laptops, Tablets und Mobiltelefonen können wir jederzeit und allerorts online sein. Dies bringt eine große Flexibilität mit sich, birgt aber auch Nachteile. In dieser Abschlussarbeit soll analysiert werden, wie Benutzerinnen und Benutzer ihre verschiedenen Geräte nutzen und wann und wo sie für andere Benutzerinnen und Benutzer erreichbar sind bzw. nicht. Daraus sollen Rückschlüsse für Anforderungen an künftige Anwendungen und Apps zur effektiveren und effizienteren Kommunikation und Zusammenarbeit gezogen werden.
